A brace only helps if it fits. Most braces are sized by a body measurement, not your clothing size, and each one has its own size chart. Below is what we carry and how to measure for each one. You'll need a soft (cloth) tape measure, snug against the skin but not tight.
Size charts below are for the braces we currently stock. If your doctor or therapist gave you specific instructions, follow them. Not sure about your size? Ask us, we're happy to measure you.
Walking boots & post-op shoes

We carry air walking boots in short and tall heights, plus post-op shoes in men's and women's versions. Both are sized by your normal shoe size. We also carry a weather-resistant boot cover that keeps your walking boot clean and dry.
Getting the right fit
- Your toes should not hang past the end of the sole, and your heel should sit all the way back.
- If your size falls on the line between two sizes, we'll fit both.
- Swelling can change your fit. Come back if the boot or shoe stops fitting.

Knee braces

Our hinged knee brace is a neoprene wraparound brace with side hinges and an open kneecap, sized from X-Small to 4X-Large. We also carry slip-on knee supports and knit compression knee sleeves.
How to measure for a hinged knee brace
- Stand with your leg straight and relaxed.
- Find the middle of your kneecap. Measure 6" straight up your thigh from that point.
- Wrap the tape around your thigh at that spot.
When the brace is on, the hinges should sit level with the middle of the kneecap on both sides.

Ankle braces

We carry lace-up ankle braces with stabilizing straps, plus adjustable wrap-style and open-heel ankle supports.
How to measure for a lace-up ankle brace
- Wear the athletic sock you'll wear with the brace.
- Stand with your weight on the foot.
- Wrap the tape from the bottom of the heel diagonally up and around the front of the ankle, where the foot meets the leg.
It should feel snug and supportive, not painfully tight.

Wrist, thumb & hand supports

We carry wrist braces, 8" foam wrist splints with a removable metal stay, and thumb spica splints that support the thumb and wrist. Each is made for the right or left hand. We also carry thumb stabilizers and open-finger arthritis compression gloves.
How to measure for a wrist or thumb brace
- Measure around the wrist at the wrist crease, where the hand meets the arm.
- Note which hand: braces are made for the right or left wrist.
The metal stay in a wrist splint can be bent slightly for comfort. Ask us for help.
| Size | Wrist brace | Foam wrist splint | Thumb spica splint |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2X-Small | Up to 4.5" (pediatric) | — | — |
| X-Small | 4.5"–5.5" (pediatric) | Under 5.5" | 5"–6" |

| X-Large | Over 8.5" | 8.5"–9.5" | 9"–10" |
Arthritis gloves are sized by measuring around the hand across the knuckles, not including the thumb, with your fingers together. Between sizes? Choose the larger size for comfort or the smaller for firmer compression.
| Size | Around the knuckles |
|---|---|
| X-Small | 6.5"–7" |
| Small | 7"–7.5" |
| Medium | 7.5"–7.8" |
| Large | 7.8"–8.2" |
Elbow supports

We carry tennis elbow straps, which are counterforce straps with a cushioned pad, and slip-on neoprene elbow sleeves.
How to measure for an elbow support
- Tennis elbow strap: with your arm relaxed at your side, measure around the forearm about 1"–2" below the elbow crease, where the strap will sit. Place the pad over the sore muscle on the outside of the forearm, just below the elbow.
- Elbow sleeve: bend your elbow slightly and measure around the arm at the point of the elbow. The sleeve should be snug but should not leave deep marks or cause tingling.
| Size | Tennis elbow strap (forearm) | Elbow sleeve (elbow) |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 6"–8" | 7"–9" |
| Medium | 8"–11" | 9"–11" |
| Large | 11"–14" | 11"–13" |
| X-Large | 14"–16" | 13"–15" |
| 2X-Large | — | 15"–17" |
Slings & shoulder immobilizers

We carry arm slings, shoulder immobilizers that hold the shoulder still after injury or surgery, and shoulder abduction slings.
How to measure for a sling or immobilizer
- Bend the elbow to 90°, in an L shape.
- Shoulder immobilizer: measure from the back of the elbow to the knuckles. Choose the pouch length closest to that measurement.
- Abduction sling: measure from the elbow crease to the tip of the middle finger.
When it's on, your hand should sit slightly higher than your elbow, with the wrist supported.
| Size | Pouch length |
|---|---|
| X-Small | 11" |
| Small | 13" |
| Medium | 15" |
| Large | 18" |
| X-Large | 20" |
| Size | Elbow crease to fingertip |
|---|---|
| Small | Up to 12.5" |
| Medium | 12.5"–15.5" |
| Large | 15.5" and up |
Back, abdominal & maternity supports

We carry lifting back supports with suspenders, 9" four-panel elastic abdominal binders, elastic rib belts, adjustable hernia belts with removable pads, and maternity support belts that support the belly and lower back during pregnancy. We also carry soft foam cervical collars for mild neck support.
How to measure
- Back support: stand relaxed and measure around the waist at the belly button. Use your body measurement, not your pant size.
- Abdominal binder: stand or lie flat and measure around the abdomen at its widest point, usually at or just below the belly button. After surgery, follow your surgeon's instructions on how tight to wear it.
- Rib belt: breathe out normally and measure around the chest just below the chest muscles or breasts, over the ribs. The belt should be firm but still let you take a comfortable breath.
- Hernia belt: stand relaxed and measure around the waist at the level of the hip bones.
- Maternity support belt: stand relaxed and measure around the body under the belly, where the belt will sit. Re-measure as your pregnancy progresses.
| Size | Waist at belly button |
|---|---|
| X-Small | Up to 25" |
| Small | 25"–30" |

| Small | 33"–40" |
| Medium | 41"–48" |
| Large | 49"–52" |
| X-Large | 53"–62" |
Hernia belt: put the belt on while lying down, when the bulge is at its smallest. Do not force or push a hernia back in. Get medical care right away if the bulge becomes painful, firm, red or dark, or won't go down when you lie down.
Common questions
How do I measure for a brace?
Use a soft (cloth) tape measure, snug against the skin but not tight. Each brace is sized by a body measurement, like thigh, ankle or wrist circumference, and every brace has its own size chart. Not sure? Ask us, we're happy to measure you.
What if I'm between sizes?
Ask us. We'll measure you and have you try both sizes. Your brace should feel snug and supportive, not painfully tight.
What size walking boot do I need?
Walking boots are sized by your normal shoe size, with separate men's and women's sizing. Your toes should not hang past the end of the sole, and your heel should sit all the way back.
Do you carry right and left wrist braces?
Yes. Wrist braces, wrist splints and thumb spica splints are made for either the right or left hand, so choose the one for the hand you need to support.
Do you bill insurance?
Not yet. We are working on it. For now, bracing and supports are available for retail purchase.
